ok heres the deal i want to make a custom led tail light and i was wondering would 11000mcd leds be sufficient for day time driving as well as being able to blind the people driving behind me? i will be using 100-150 led's each tail light
while i dont have the answer for ur inquiry, im definately interested in seeing the end product. be sure to post up some picks if u ever acomplish this
the problem when makin leds brake lights and such is that you need part of the leds to lighten up with the running lights and the other part to turn on when you hit the brake. believe me I tried making my own halo brake lights but the wiring was to complicated

Gotta make a PWM circuit. Refer to the link I posted for a schematic. Ebay also has premade ones from time to time.
if you look back far enough in my posts, you'll find my pictures of my LED taillights and you want to use RED superflux leds, they are the only style that wil give you the brightness and viewing angle you want.

i was going to use just regular 5mm or maybe the 10mm but 11000 mcd red led's..... and i was going to make it for my other car which is a 2000 nissan maxima i wanted to make a big ring to take up the whole tail light then make a smaller ring in the middle for the turn signals i was going to fabricate my own board and i was planning to make it look as oem as possible.....so you would only be able to tell that i had led tail lights when i hit the brake
and as far as the running and brake difference in bright ness i was just either going to figure out a way to to that or just have two rows one ofr the running lights and then the 2nd row to light up when the brakes are applied.... and my friend is an electronics engineer so he was going to help me out with getting it all together
^ you should be able to use the same array of LEDs for both running and brake lights. Your stock wiring should have three wires going to your brake light bulbs. A "running" wire, a "brake" wire and a ground. Your "brake" should be 12V and your "running" wire should be something less. Therefore, if you configure your array to run on 12V, it will run dimmer for your running lights and full power when you hit the brakes.
cool thats exactly what i wanted to do in the first place.......... and i wanted to figure out a way to use the existing wiring harness so i could just "unplug" the light when i needed to take them off
