Unorthodox Ultra S Crank Pulley Camry HOW MANY HP GAIN?
Hi all,
I was searching thru and found out that changing the stock Crank Pulley to Unorthodox Crank Pulley will gain some power....but how much power will you gain??? i saw couple of them on eBay for $160usd, is it worth buying them???
Revving is faster that I have heard. But something with the harmonic dampering. Eitherway my engine is going strong, I dont think it will hurt it too bad, unless you like destroying your engine, its not for you. But if it pulls faster, revs faster, its for me, because the auto-slush-box just needs some help
its not even underdrive, its just lighter, and we all know how bad it is to run a lighter crank pulley
major damage to crank - running an underdrive of different weight, or a lighter crank pulley puts the bottomoff balance and stresses the crank even more then it usually is. running one side (either a lighter pulley or a lighet flywheel) will severly stress one end of the crank more then the other.
guys take notice, he has a v6.

5s-fes dont have problems with light/underdrive pulley as much as a v6 would, the 3s/5s crank is surpisngly strong (its forged, good for 400hp possibly more)
the cranks on the v6's arent as ...robust.

Here's my 2c worth 4 quicker accelleration in a MANUAL.
Lighten the flwheel... There is less centifrugal MASS to move thus the
engine revs QUICKER
BUT.... If its lightened TOO MUCH it can fly apart and instanly make your
legs 5" shorter very quickly. On my HR Holden I had 7lbs shaved off &
absolutely caned the ring outa it for 10 years with no ill affects.
Might want to check with a machine shop though on Camry safety specs first before lathing away indiscriminately

Well, I'd say it'd be cheaper to just get yours machined here in Oz & save a heap of money and due to the factor of driven plate surface contact on the alloy flywheel I don't think it would be TOTALLY reliable for strret use.
Heat contact, glazing etc...
In race trim it might be GREAT for 3 or 4 meets but on the street daily?....hmmmm
I'd stick with steel myself <shrugz>
And the bio backs up what I "briefly" said.
I feel vindicated

if you want to go faster for $250, spend that on a diet, either for your car or yourself.
real power starts at the $1000 mark. get the heads worked on, or a cam regrind for more duration. either way get some form of AFC.

They do have a "flywheel" if you can call it that, itz what
the ring gear's attached to <rib> poke
An alloy one probably still wouldn't help all that much ...
Go the cam grind if you really want to spend money !

The Flexplate on the auto is SOOO light anyways it wouldn't make a difference if it was lightned at all!...the main "mass" on the Auto is the torque converter, and you won't be "lightening" that in a hurry :P
