PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I have a 1996 Camry LE (4 cyl) with only 42,000 miles on it. It was my granmothers car up until last year when she sold it to me. She took excellent care of the car getting an oil change every 3 months regardless of the mileage in between. Well 2 days ago the car died on me, it felt like i hit something (which i didn't) then it died. I towed the car to a Toyota dealership and they told me that I threw a rod, creating a hole in the short block and that i would need a new engine. With a quote of $4600 to fix the car and no explanation how this could have happened I left pretty pissed off. So I have spent numerous hours online researching this and something doesnt seem right. The oil was full, there were no leaks, and no sounds from the car. The hole in the engine looks like the front motor mount came loose and pushed a hole in the engine (becasue the motor mount is IN the hole). I have called numerous mechanics who have never heard of this happening to a Toyota, especially with only 40,000 miles. Some one told me that "SLUDGE" could have affected this but that they doubt Toyota would admit to it. SO IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THIS OR HELP ME OUT PLEASE DO. My email is shay93074@yahoo.com. T H A N K Y O U !!!!!
