Talking Gotta have my mods.

Wuddup, I have a '89 Toyota Camry. It's sort of a project car. Mainly I just want to give it some mods and make it turn heads. I'm in the process joining an import club that my cousin started a couple years ago, but in order to get in I need at least a body kit on it and some new fenders while I'm at it (all 4 fenders are rusty and moldy). The thing is. I just bought this car and the previous owner hasn't changed a thing on it. It has 178,000 miles on it and all the parts in my car are stock from the day it was born . The only thing I've done to it so far is an oil change and spark plugs (NGK V-Power). Any ideas on what I should do to "Pimp my ride" . I'm kinda on a low budget hopefully there are some cheap mods out there. I'm willing to go over my budget. Depending on how much over my budget we're talking about. Well anywayz please help me out. Tell me what I should start with. Should I start from under the hood first? or should I just go ahead and start on the body?

It all depends on what is most important to you. If you are looking for performance than get under the hood, but expect to put a good bit of $$$$$$ into it. If looks are more important than go with the body work. Check what resources you have already, friends in the right places and such... Then figure out what is most important and then do some research and find out what parts are going to cost you. We have a sticky at the top of the page for Camry's. A lot of good stuff in there. Also if you do a search on specific ideas you have for your car , it has probably been covered here already. Good luck with your project and if you have anymore specific questions , do a search and then if you can't find your answer ask here and I'm sure someone will be able to help. Good Luck!

Waaaaaaaasssssup.....?
Sooz yawantz ta put sum Schizzle inya drizzle....

Pimp your ride eh homey?

Go to your local Wal-Mart buy 4 shaggy PURPLE floor mats
& hot glue gun them on your door trimz!

Some hot pink crushed velvet would be "da bomb" on yer dash.

See ifya canz buy (in bulk) 100 fluffy dice to hang from th' topz of the door jamz.

OH, and dont forget the nugahide holster staple gunned to the dash 4ya $100 Bretta !

Seriously though, there is only 2 body kits available in the USA that anyone can find on line.
One is very "plain jane" and the others a bit wild.

Only option is to have one altered & custom fitted which will cost more than the car is worth.

LINKS TO THREADS ON KITS
Or do what I did...

For $30 = $10 s/h bar $20 4 mesh
And I can put the perfect front bar back on anytime.

Ok those are a couple of good ideas for what the car should look like, what about under the hood. Should I change the engine or something? Something that'll make it faster and more powerful.

I'm still in the process of hunting down a guy that has an 87 Hond Integra bodykit 4 sale.

Have a look at this model of car & you'll see itz damn close in styling & overall dimension to the Camry. As soon as I get this guy pinned down, I'll be seeing if the kit will fit with a few modz and I'll be posting the resultz far & wide over the "net".

BUT everytime I go to his work he's not there, dont know his name (only met him once) so there's only the random chance of him ringing me or catching him there !

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Look at the Camry FAQ and look at all the Body kit links at the bottom. Search for the Gen2 kits.

Suggestion

Here's a good mod. Get your car back to OEM shape. Fix the fenders, etc, etc. Sometimes an old car in nice shape draws more attention than a rustbucket with rims. Jon.

^Yeah. But In my honest opinion, It's not worth fixing it up. It's in terrible condition and you'll just end up spending more than the car is actually worth.

I think what you need would be a car in better shape. The exterior is rusty and the engine is old and has high milage. It doesn't sound like you'll get much milage out of your kit and all those other mods.
