Question

I just placed 225/55 16 (Yokohama Avid V4s) on my 16" BBS winter wheels. I called TireRack before ordering my tires to make sure a 225 is appropriate on a 7" wide wheel and they said yes. The tire shop (Merchant's Tire and Auto) ordered the tire for me through Tire Rack and today I had them mounted and balanced. They said because the way the bead sits if they were to use there traditional Hunter alignment machines it would scratch the lip of the wheel. Can you give me a location of a NTB or Merchant's Tire and Auto that would your company recommends and might have the appropriate equipment. Thanks. Jon.

The Yokohama should mount on a 6-8 inch wide wheel without issues. Click here to see our list of installers by zip code. Let me know if you have any more trouble.

It's hard to say if there is a standard for too much bulge from person to person. It may bulge a little more than you like, but is within specifications for the tire and could be used to get you by without problems.
