Tire Plus-Size on 06 Solara

I am wondering how much wider I can go than the stock 215/60-16 with the 06 SE Solara's aluminum rims. The car will not be getting lowered, or have any other handling mods besides the upgraded tires. I was hoping to get 235/55s on the car, and have even thought about 245/50s because of the availability of better rubber in that size (I know, I'm pushing it here, aren't I?). I am willing to space the wheels. Thanks!

We have been staying with the 215 on the 16" wheels. We have gone wider on some of the larger wheels. I have a note that states even the 225 with the same overall diameter will be aggressive towards the front fender and may require modification. You may have to do some test fitments to be sure.
