Lost key to wheel lock lug nuts =(

I think I lost the key and want to see what options I have.
I've browsed and the most common solution I found was to hammer a socket onto the lock nut and remove it. The set I have was installed by the dealer when they rotated the tires, so I don't have a brand, model, or serial number. I don't want to purchase any of those special removal tools, because this is (hopefully) a one-time issue. What's the best way to remove these without damaging anything else? How much should a shop (dealer, pep boys, etc.) be charging just to remove these 4 locking lug nuts?

I don't know of any major tricks other than cutting or breaking them off. Prices may vary a little by area so I'd probably call around to a few local shops to see who offers the best options.

if the lock is from the dealer, they should have record of those locks and should be able to replicate a key for you...although its costly.

Its nice to have locks but its not necessary with stock wheels...lol I may get rid of mine some day..

good luck.

just go to your dealer and they have a master set. have them take off the old ones. then have a new set provided or have them get em. then have them put a new on. and while you at it minaswell get you tires rotated

To be safe, have it serviced. It shouldn't be costly.

The places I went to couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't scratch or damage my rims. The dealers said they had a master set, but wouldn't know how to use it to get my lug nuts off, because I have the short ones in a deep socket.

So in the end, I just purchased 4, 6 point deep sockets (21mm I think), gently hammered each of those sockets over the lug nut, and used a breaker bar to remove the nut. I kept turning counter clockwise and the socket initially slipped around the lug nut, but eventually "caught" (after 2-3 turns). Everything worked out fine, not a single scratch on the rims or damage anywhere else

The downside is that I spent $20 for 4 sockets that I won't be able to use again (unless I figure out a way to get those lug nuts out of the sockets; which are jammed in there pretty good). Not a bad price for the jam I was in.

I had the same problem on a used 2002 Camry. They were not Toyota, so I used a 3/4" socket, tapped it on with a hammer and backed them right off. Took about 5 minutes
