Upgrading tires 97 corolla

Hello, I am considering upgrading tires on my 97 Toyota Corolla. I just got the car a couple months ago. I currently have stock 14's on. I am having trouble deciding what size tire I should upgrade to, Ive been looking online and im thinking 205 40 R16. Should I upgrade to 15's or 16's? Thanks for the input in advance.

You could upgrade to 15's or 16's without any issues. Many will prefer more wheel showing than tire sidewall which would lead to the 16's. The larger wheel will improve steering response and handling. Price could also become a factor as the 16" wheels and tires may add to the cost. Give me a call if I can help.

Also, I heard that upgrading to low pros could cause your speedometer to go 5 miles faster than it actually is. Is there any truth to this? Will I need to get my car's computer recalculated or anything?

We would keep the tire's overall diameter close enough to the same that the speedo or computer won't notice a difference.

Shit, now I HAVE to buy new tires. You wont believe this but I wrecked my car yesterday coming home from work. I didnt hit anyone. I was changing lanes and I saw this other asshole coming in the same lane so I swerved over to get back in my lane and I lost control and spun out in the ditch. Popped a tire and so I need a new tire. The car still runs but I have a mechanic friend coming to look at it theres also some minor body damage and I will need new brackets for my radiator but other then that theres no other damage. Also the cop told me IF he has to write a police report he also has to write me a ticket. so I will NOT be getting a police report but I am alright and im heading to discount tire in a few minutes
