Is something wrong with my brakes?

Last night I did something unbelievably dumb and I admit it. I was with a buddy and we were on a very straight socluded street at night and I was going 70mph, which was fine but the road was about to end so I started breaking and I could either turn left or right at the corner and I was breaking pretty hard towards the end of the road and I started turning left at 35 mph and it almost felt like my brakes cut out for a couple seconds, like I was literally almost all the way down and I wasn't really skidding or anything but it felt like they were grinding and not stopping like they should. Is anything wrong or is this to be expected when braking this hard?

Do you have ABS? If so, this will limit your braking efforts to keep from locking the tires up.

Was it vibrating or the pedal was pulsating? If so, then that is ABS working its magic to prevent you from locking up and skidding.

Ya, probably the ABS. The pedal may feel like its sinking down when it actuates.
