Road Hazard Program Worthless

I purchased 4 tires with the hazard program 2 yrs ago and recently sustained a slice 1" X 2" that goes just below the baseline on one of the tires. Tire Rack is claiming this as a cosmetic issue but the local tire stores are claiming this as a serious blowout potential. I went directly to the supervisor (J. Webster) with some closeup photos and his response is "...since the tire holds air, it is deemed a cosmetic issue..."
3 of the 4 tires have 70% tread or 9/32" left, the 4th 60%. The tires are no longer made by Firestone and mixing a new one into this would be careless. I will try to include a pic. I'm disappointed a supervisor would consider this gouge cosmetic and condone driving with it. AFAIC, this warranty is useless so-BUYER BEWARE.

Discount tires program amounts to a report and a direct replacement.
Tire rack needs to see this issue from a consumers point of view.

I know how it must feel for you but in accordance to their policy the tire is not flat or losing air and therefore it does not fall under the replacement warranty. Until it doesn't hold air or is not driveable theres not alot you can or should expect. I'd personally wait a few days and then slice it the rest of the way through. If not a nail always ends up in one of my tires every 25k or so miles why not yours. These are of course just my own personal views or opinions and are by no means a recommendation.

Worthless

As a further insult, I arranged for 4 new tires to be mounted, purchased from Tire Rack before this whole thing played out. Tire rack won't sell me a Road Hazard program but supposedly would sell them to the shop who bought them for me. A few weeks ago they even denied my shop that which they agreed to?! So now my shop has refunded my Road Hazard check along with a copy of the Road Hazard paperwork-NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT WAS PRINTED ON! So tire rac, this what you call customer service??? I just know who I'm doing business with next time...

WOW. the reality and fine print behind these road hazard crap have now come to light.

Where is that tire rack person now who keeps posting in this forums...hello

a friends of mine had got 4 michhelins tires from discount tires and one sustained a damage from the road. They prorated and gave him a new tire for just 12 bucks installed. Thats seems better than going to tirerack...

USA Discount Tire

I had the similar experience with my other car that had a tire bought from Discount Tire-NIGHT AND DAY... I can see if someone has a history of abusing the policy but for customers having this happen on the first, FIRST EXPERIENCE- you be the judge...

Gee whizz, gosh golly darn, my 1st post and it's tires you think I'd start an oil thread......

Get your tires at Wal Mart. I've had some serious good luck with them the last 7 years. If I bought all my tires instead of getting them pro-rated or from road hazards, I'd be in the poor house. My 75K Michs last about 13K and I usually pay $75 and out the door with a new set.

As for oil......Wal Mart I only use the best... Camry has 217K and still kicking.
