Gen6 Considering winter tires, looking for Kyle's Favorites

Hello Kyle. I have a 2007 Toyota Camry SE V6, and I just got some OEM Toyota wheels, that are 16x6.5 I believe. The OEM size is 205/65/16 for those tires.

Currently, my stock wheels are 215/55/17. What are your recommended winter tires? I can fit 205/65/16 or 215/65/16 on those OEM Toyota wheels i recieved.

At your website, with the 205 width, it looks like the Michelin X-Ice are the best choice. But for the 215 width, I can choose between some Performance tires, like the Dunlop ones.

I am in Chicago weather, so we do get snow and ice, what are your recommendations? Is it worth getting the studless tires, or would performance winter tires be adequate? I know the 205 width would work better in snow then a 215 width.

The best winter tires to my knowledge are Blizzaks. They are the benchmark of winter tires. But pretty expensive.

Also, In the winter, you want to opt for a thinner width. Maybe a 195.

You can't really go wrong with either the Michelin X Ice or the Blizzak WS 50. Both tires are excellent in ice and snow. I would try to stay with the 205 for best performance as you have stated. The performance winter tires handle and perform better on the clear days but trade some of their winter traction in the process. If you want the best in regards to winter weather conditions I would go with the studless ice and snow. Give me a call and we can discuss details. 800 428 8355 ext 663. Link below shows testing we have done and may be helpful in your decision.
