how much $ to mount new tires?

for tires bought from tirerack, how much is a reasonable price to mount & balance? (I mean the total price as installed per tire incl disposal fee etc etc...)

i called some of the tirerack installed near my zip (27560) and heard as much as 25 bucks per tire plus tax! and these are for 215/60/16. I felt it was high...

My local Discount Tire charges me $11, to dismount old and mount/balance new ones I bring in. Tire disposal is $2 per tire. I think valve stems are $1 each.

I used to goto a smaller tire dealer for changes, but after an amatuer tire jockey gouged one of my wheels, using a touchless machine somehow, I looked around for another place. Discount Tire was only a dollar more. Been using them ever since. Usually, there is no wait for service either

^11 because you bought tires from them right?

Because here, it's 20 dollars a tire if you bring your own. And that's not including tax.

I'll check with discount tire. I doubt they'll do it for 11 + 2 + 1 (15) bucks if I bring my own tire/

Yes walmart is cheap, but how good are they?

The $11 was me bringing in my own tires.

One time, brought in a set of mounted tires on MB Motoring wheels, and a set of new Enkei RPF1 wheels. I wanted them to dismount the tires off the MB Motoring wheels, and mount them on the Enkei RPF1 wheels. Metal valve stems came new with the Enkeis, and needed to be installed. I also requested tape weights. Out the door total, $44.

^Weird....

Here they charge $11 if you buy from them (includes a lot of different options). It's interesting that you got it so cheap bringing in your own tires...

I recently talked with the owner of a local tire shop -- they are on TireRack's list of installers, and they charge $15 each to mount & balance if you don't buy from them.

Send me a message or call me with tire size and I can help you find someone in the area. Merchants Tire in Cary offers a pretty reasonable rate for our customers depending on size. Thanks. 800 428 8355 ext 663

One advantage of using Tirerack's recommended installers is that you can have the tires drop-shipped directly to them. This particular shop charged $16 each for the whole shebang.

Discount Tire's balance is a lifetime balance I have all my wheels and tires done there, they are great, service is awesome, they are friendly, quick and if you need to buy tires they will match anyone’s price. I know they do a great job because I can watch them. I can't say the same for the yahoo's mounting and balancing at Wal-Mart and good luck getting them to rebalance when you go back after the first 10 miles and they are out-of-whack again. Just my .02 its worth a buck or two or even $5 more per corner to do it right.
