Comfortreds

I've always had Comfortreds on my cars. (And before Comfortreds, I had Aquatreds). I have always been very satisfied with these tires.

My 07 Camry Hybrid came stock with the Bridgestones, and I'm not very happy with them. My question is, normally I'd just automatically install a set of Comfortreds, but I'm pretty sure that the Bridgestones are Low rolling resistance tires... If I put a set of Comfortreds on in a few months, will my mileage go down significantly?

I've been looking all over the net for information on what tires offer the best MPG, but I haven't been able to find much.

Any insight?

As an alternative to those, try and cross shop the Michelin Hydroedge too, those are low rolling resistance tires as well. I have them on my car for over 2 years and can attest to their hydroplane resistance and durability.

Likely a safe bet that the oe tires are focused on the lower rolling resistance but hard to guess which tire would be the best replacement. Tire manufacturers currently don't supply the info so we have to assume that the oe tires on the hybrids would be the best bet. You would see a slight decrease with any tire at full tread but eventually it will break in and improve a little. I'm uncertain as to how much the change would be.

Do a little research, there is some data available online such as at the link below.

Thank you very much (everyone) for your replies. I looked at that chart, but it only lists the Comfortred in one size, and it doesn't list my stock tires. So I'm kind of in the dark for comparing one type of tire with another.

I tried to compare the Comfortreds with the Hydroedge tires... but the chart lists different sizes- and unfortunately none of them match.

Again, thanks for all of the replies.

That is a very technical question. A good one but very technical. I'm not surprised there isn't hardly anything on the subject, there are way too many variables to the question.
If you are worried about it I suggest this. Stay with the OE size. Then compare a few things about the tire:
1. Tire weight
2. UTQG or tread ware rating (there is no industry standard for how these are determined but they can give you a general idea of how hard or soft a manufacture says their tire is) Generally speaking a harder tire will have a high tread ware rating, softer tires will have a lower tread ware rating. A harder tire will have less resistance on the road.
3. Tread design. Look for Highway tread designs with a good amount of circumferential groves, 4 is a good number to shoot for. Circumferential groves are channels in the tread pattern designed to let air pass through. They run all the way around the tire and are parallel to each other.
I would assume if you keep the OE size, and you don't add weight, there will be very little difference but the only way you will be able to know is to try it out. Hope this helps.
