One of my friends had a set of Nankang tires he got from Discount Tire for his VW GTI. I am not sure on the tire model. He called them Nankang "Maypops", since he replaced three out of four due to them being junk. He was not an aggressive driver by any means.

You get what you pay for in tires. Trust me on this one. For a few bucks more per tire look at Hankook and Kuhmo, even Falken and Nitto build affordable tires that are way beyond any linglong (yes they are real tires), clear, federal or otherwise cheap no named tires.

Here's another point while we're on the topic. If you are looking to buy a set of tires and the tire shop you go to offers you the cheapest tire they carry without asking you anything about your needs, wants and driving habits, walk away. Get back into your car and drive to a tire shop that cares about the product they sell and itsn't just in it to make a buck. Tires are one of the most important parts on your car. I personally want a tire that will fit my driving habits and will keep me, my friends, family and my vehicle safe.

I had NS1 on my Celica and they're great in dry and wet. Not good in snow at all.
