Sport Edition Wheels

Kyle,

Could you or someone comment on the quality of the Sport Edition brand wheels?

I'm sure you wouldn't carry anything low quality, but how do they compare to say Enkei, etc. or even OEM for that matter.

The Sport Edition CDs in bright satin w/machined lip are on my current short list of wheels for my '95 Camry V6 XLE, but they're so much cheaper than Enkeis and others that they make me a little nervous.

Thx for any info.

Sport Edition is a house brand produced for us by various manufacturers. The wheels are usually gravity or low pressure cast in regards to construction methods which helps maintain lower price points. Comparing across brands will depend on what is important to you. Wheels that are lighter in weight or have more extensive finish/design are going to add cost. Most wheel problems I hear of are bending or cracking issues from potholes...and they are usually across all brands and prices. Let me know if I can help.

Kyle,

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not necessarily looking for ultra-light, but would like to stay at 20lbs or less, and want something with a good quality finish that will hold up to salt, etc.

I'm in the St. Louis area. We don't get that much snow, so I'm not sure I want to mess with winter vs. summer wheels, but they use ALOT of salt here, and I want something that will hold up if I decide to drive them year round.

I was looking at Enkei since they have a great rep for quality, and I understand their finish is very good. But, while searching your site, the Sport Edition CDs caught my eye. I Like the style, they're in the weight range, and at a nice price. Sounds like quality is not a concern. How do they compare to the Enkeis on finish? Also, how about warranty?

Thanks.

If using year round, you'll want to stay with more of a painted wheel for durability. I'd recommend staying away from the machined lip wheels like the satin finish CD and going for the silver instead. The machined surfaces are more high maint. and prone to issues from melting agents. Keep a good coat of polish on either brand and you should be fine. The warranty on finish is listed as one year for both brands.
