18x7.5" or 18x8"?

Okay, I went to the tirerack site and have chosen a wheel. And this is the one... for my Corolla S 2009.

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

Now, my question is... which is better... the 7.5" or 8"? Because both of them have the same recommended tire size.

Sorry for the confusion but if using the 225 40 18 we should go for the 7.5 inch. If you wanted to go wider we could use a 235 40 18 on the 8" wheel. Let me know if I can help.

Ah. Thanks for the confirmation.

Next question...

Would wider be better for my car? I don't mind the price since it's a small difference. Pros and cons?

Wider tires will have better handling and steering response in the dry. Narrower tires will have better wet/snow performance. Fuel economy may also be affected a bit due to the larger footprint. Looks may also be a factor. We're talking 10mm so there won't be dramatic changes but these are the things to consider.

Cool cool. That's all sorted out.

Now, my car, I think, has a TPM. According to your site, that would cost 300 something if I want them added to my order of rims and tires. It also said that I could transfer my old TPM to the new tires if I wanted to.

My question is, is it all worth the hassle to actually transfer the TPM to the new tires or just order a new one and sell my old stock with the original TPM?

You could transfer the original sensors but this would add additional cost. We could mount the new sensors in the package and deliver ready to bolt on. Keep in mind that even if we install sensors you will still have to take to the dealer to have initialized which could add to your cost. You'll have to add up costs and local charges for both methods and decide what is best for you.

I see.

Kyle, somebody from another thread just told me that using 18" wheels will make the ride bumpy. I know stiff sport springs would make bumpy rides... but would the 18" really give me a bumpy ride? I'm guessing that since I'm not changing my springs/shocks, then the change would be extremely subtle to even notice. Correct?

Also, I am not sure what the recommended offset is for the 09 Corolla. Somebody told me it's 38-50mm. But the one that I want says that the 18x8" has an offset of 35mm. So what do I do now?

I'm seriously about to order this wheel from you guys. So I'm ironing out every little detail first before ordering.

You will feel the bumps more as you increase wheel diameters as there isn't as much sidewall in the lower profile tires. All the wheels listed on the site with the search by vehicle are wheels we have tested to fit properly. Clicking on wheel close up/specs will show details and offsets for each wheel used.
