05 Tacoma SR5 Pre-Runner 2WD

I have a 05 Tacoma SR5 Pre-Runner 2WD with 70,000 miles, and the truck needs new shocks. I can tell the damping is starting to fade in the stock low buget shocks. I was wondering if the upgraded Bilstein shocks that come stock on the 4WD model would fit my 2WD? If so, I wanted to search for a owner that has taken off the Bilstiens during a suspension lift and has them collecting dust on a shelf somewhere.

Is this possible?

Mike

i have two bilstein shocks that came on my 2006 tacoma that were used for about 20,000 miles... still good though and sitting in my garage.

would you use them for your front or rear? you can switch out the rears in about 10 minutes or less.

Thankx eye doc. By the looks of your user name you must be in the optical business. My wife has been a optician for the last 25 years. We live in Brandon near Tampa, and she currently works for a private Dr. in Fish Hawk.

Do you have the TRD model? I need all four shocks, and was looking for a "take off" set from someone who has lifted their truck. The Bilstiens will be a nice upgrade over my junk stockers.

I'll take the rears that you have, and start searching for some fronts. Do you know if the front shocks are the same on all Tacomas? I know the struts are different between the 2WD and 4WD models, but I wonder if the shocks inside the struts will interchange?

Any suggestions?

Thx,
Mike
