Can a wheel locking nut throw off balance?
Need some advice from folks that have experience balancing wheels.
I have some tuner nuts for some after mkt alloy wheels I will be using for winter. Because the wheel has a centre cap covering the nuts, I purchased spline drive open ended lug nuts.
I did find some spline drive closed ended locking nuts that would fit, but they are slightly bigger and heavier than the regular lugs.
Could the locking nut throw off the balance of the wheel?
One tire shop said it shouldn't be a problem, but install the locking nut opposite the valve. Not sure about the logic of this stmt if the wheel is already perfectly balanced prior to install with lug nuts.
Thx.
