Canada Nokian WRG2 SUV on 2007 4Runner

In case anyone was considering these tires, I just had a set installed on my 2007 Toyota 4Runner Sport V8 (P265/65R17). These were to replace the terrible Dunlop GrandTrek AT20s that were on it from original . Even though I only have 33000km, I was looking for a better year-round tire that would be a good winter tire yet still wear well in the summer.

So far, I am quite impressed , they are a little noisier than the Dunlops but better in every other aspect. The whole drive feels tighter, but so far I've only driven in dry and wet. The first snowfall will tell I guess. I will update once I've driven in snow/ice and also once I see how they wear.

I got a set for my brother in law's lancer. Tread wear is not as good though, trade off for better traction.

But if you can recall the tread wear of the Goodyear Vector (North American version from the mid 1980's ) The vector was very good but wore out before 100 000 kms.

Well, after having driven on loose snow, packed snow and ice... These tires are amazing. They stick to everything like glue. No complaints, just kudos, so far I would highly recommend these tires. Hope this helps anyone out there with their own tire decision. I will be driving on these this summer and will see how the dry wear is, but with a treadwear rating of 640, I don't imagine I will have any discernable wear by next fall anyways.

Yes these are great tires.... Great traction on all surfaces for the first 25K. Then they start to wear quickly, especially in the summer.

Traction after 25K this past winter was only slighty better than an all season.

Good tire, but for me and my application, I am going with good all season and a second set of winters.

Recommend them, yes. Just thought they would last a bit longer.

Well, I've got about 10000km on them now and did the first rotation. Some minor wear on the front outer shoulders, no more than any other tire I've had before at 10k (guess that's why we rotate). Still quite happy with them, quiet on the highway, good rain traction... Winter is coming again but with next to new tread they should still perform as good as last year...

I got about 20,000 miles over the last 3 winters (used only as winter) on mine but that put them at the snow wear bars. I just installed them as my 3 season since my other tires wore to 3-4/32" and got REAL poor in the rain. I'll see how they last over next summer. They definitely handle better than my Michelin MXV4 S8's in all conditions over the last couple years but also as mentioned were noisier but that is the tradeoff.

I replaced with a more dedicated winter tire (Continental ExtremeWinterContact) for this coming winter season.
