problems with slightly oversized tires

Hey guys, I picked up a set of wheels for my car (2005 corolla xrs) and I have a couple of questions. The tire calculator shows that for my car the tire size for 18" wheels should be 225/40/18. The tires that came with the wheels are 225/45/18. The site stated that any difference greater than 3% (the difference was 4. something %) could cause brake failure. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

My second question is the wheels have an offset of +35mm. I checked which offsets work for my car and it said anything from 35 to 45. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any issues with wheels with offsets of the lower end of the spectrum.

Lastly my tire pressure sensor has been going off quite a bit since I put the 18's on. I check the tire pressure and they all are fine. Has anyone else had any issues with this? I normally just reset the pressure sensor but it's getting a bit annoying.

I am running +35 offsets on my Motegi 16 x7 wheels. You should be fine. There are absolutely no issues with +35. It actually gives a very aggressive, wide stance.

However, the size (18 inches) will be great for looks, but the steering response, wheel weight etc. will result in performance and handling loss.

That is why I went with 16 inches and wider 7 inches wheel that weigh only 16 pounds apiece.

Just a thought.

Wheel fitment is a combination of offset, width and diameter of the wheel as well as the tire size. Whether you rub or not will depend whether the offset you choose is too wide for the wheel and the tire will still provide enough clearance from suspension components or the outer fender lip.

You'll need a new set of sensors and to go to the dealer to get it reprogrammed to work.

You may not need new sensors. Maybe only one. It sounds like if your pressures are okay one may be acting up. The dealer should be able to run a scan and determine which sensor is casuing this.
