Is it required to balance my tires every time I a tire rotation (5,000 miles)? I feel a bit stingy and lazy to bring my car to the dealership to have them do this every time, and I figure I can change my oil, oil filter, and rotate my tires at home whenever I am free.

I don't know if this question is being asked in the correct forum.

It's not required. However, some of the cars I've owned have needed a balance after every rotation. My Mustangs never needed a balance after every rotation, but my old Sunfires and my Maxima sure do. I guess it's up to you.

I go to America's Tire Center and bought their lifetime rotation and balancing for about $60 or so and I have them do it every 6K miles or so. I don't trust my local dealer for anything.

Humanoid beat me to it. Our stores offer lifetime balance and rotation services. Its a one time cost (per set of tires) with the purchase of your tires. If you already have this service all you need to do is bring the vehicle in. We'll do the rest.
