Gen6 michelin tires review

Hello, I have 43,000 miles on my 2008 Toyota Camry V6 SE

I am on my third set of Michelin Tires purchased at Americas Tire. Americas Tire is the Discount Tire retailer in California.

To begin with I believe that the tire size for the V6 is very undersized for the weight of the car and power.

The Toyo TPT original tires were bald in 9000 miles, complete junk tires, no traction, squealing, wheel hop etc.

I tried the Michelin Primacy MXV In the stock size 215/55/17
They were still undersized for the car in my opinion, but more durable than the Toyo, after about 23,000 miles I had them prorated as they were wearing out and not giving me the desired ride for my driving style.

I then went with the Michelin Pilot Sport plus in a plus zero tire size of 225/50/17. they felt small for the car too, but with alot more traction. Well the pilot sports lasted 12,000 miles and literally were disinigrating with chunks of tread flying off.

Michelin and Americas tire have been very good in there customer service.

I had them warrentied/prorated. I am now on the 225/50/17 Michelin Pilot HX MXM. They are a grand touring performance tire. I like them so far better than the other two Michlin models. I believe that they work very well with the stock SE suspension, and give me a sportier feeling.
I believe it is because of a firmer sidewall of the tire design.
The MXM appear visually bigger and feel when driving to be bigger in physical diameter than the pilot sport plus of the same size 225/50/17.

And therefore I am not as heavy on the gas peddle. Also no wheel hop at all in dry pavement.

I do feel that this car is very sensitive to tire application than, my old 1998 Camry v6.

The reason for the plus zero tire size of 225/50/17 is that the salesman at Americas tire recommended it. That size is equal in size by one percent of the plus one 225/45/18 optional trd wheel from the dealer.

I am now on uniroyal gtz and like them better than all the michelins I have tried... and uniroyal is owned by michelin.

I feel totally ripped off by Michelin tires.

Will never buy michelin Brand again.

Not what they used to be.

Ironically... I now have Uniroyal GTZ tires...made in the USA but owned by Michelin.

Michelin's are overprice and not as good as advertised... only good as the warrenty.

The Uniroyals are a better tire...who new?
