Yokohama YK580
UTQG: 580 A, A (All Sizes)
Introducing the latest evolution in high performance all season tires, The Yokohama YK580. A truly next generation tire with
a first of its kind High Performance rubber compound technology that achieves low rolling resistance and long tread life. The
new asymmetrical tread design delivers enhanced wet weather grip, confident cornering, powerful stopping power, and an
extremely quiet ride. The YK580 has a large size line up and several new fitments for passenger and CUV vehicles. Yokohama
made an intentional focus on tread life of the YK580 and offers a warranty on all sizes and speed ratings. To achieve this, it
was put through rigorous testing on the harshest surfaces and the strictest guidelines and was engineered to achieve a best
in class rating in multiple performance categories. Its technology, construction, and design are the outcome of years of
engineering and research. The YK580 promises to exceed all expectations while at the same time contributing to a cleaner
environment.
TECHNOLOGY
Engineered for Extraordinary Longevity
Our most durable, High-Performance Compound achieves low rolling resistance while delivering long treadlife
Our Optimized Contact Patch promotes long, even wear by distributing stress equally across the entire tread surface
We optimized the Groove Ratio by almost 9% to increase tread area and volume for more stability and longer treadlife.
Developed for Year-Round Traction
For improved handling in the rain, our Sweeping Tapered Rain Channels accelerate water away from the tread area.
Our Cross Traction Sipes create biting edges for assured handling in light snow and wet conditions.
Our 3D Adaptive Sipes give the YK580 consistent traction for the duration of the tire's life.
Built for Quiet, Confident Handling
When cornering forces are pushed to the limit, our Unibloc Shoulder enhances the stiffness of the tire
The YK580's Large Notched Blocks provide grip support under the most intense braking and cornering pressure
Our Tread Block Bridges give the tread extra support and reduce tread noise throughout the life of the tire
Economical and Environmental
Because the YK580 has such low rolling resistance, it improves fuel economy. And thanks to an all new compound and
optimized tread profile, it's guaranteed to last thoudands of miles which is good for both the wallet and the environment.
Just ordered a set of 4 Yokohama YK580 tires for my 2009 Highlander Limited. I've not seen any review of this tire on this site. Too bad I missed the contest from last year. Anyway, I'm glad to be the first to run these tires and I promise to give you my honest review as I use them.
By the way, I have a Bridgestone H/L 400 (new and unused as spare). I do plan to sell it and buy a yokohama yk580 as spare.
I'll post pics after I get them mounted on Friday 2/10/12.

Excellent choice. We look forward to reading your review!
I would be anxious to hear what you think. I am leaning towards these tires for my truck. I am hoping to get a little improvment in MPG. I haven't seen much info online about them yet.
I love Yokohama tires but when I was looking at the YK580 they seem to be a lot heavier then the Continental DWS. I'm wondering how these 2 tires compare. I'm looking at them for my 10 Prius & both mention improved MPG even though neither is a LRR tire from what I can tell.

I'm completely satisfied with the Yokohama YK580 on my 09 H/L Limited. I can tell you that the ride is quiet ((I've not experienced any tire noise unlike the Bridgestone Dueler 400 I replaced). I live in Tx and we don't really have snow but I can assure you it handles very well in wet road. I have a road trip to Atlanta, Ga. coming up in May and I hope to get better feel for the tire.
So far, I like the look and performance of these tires. I will buy again. Infact, I am going to get rid of my spare, new Bridgestone tire and replace with another YK580.
Oh....I average about 26.5 miles/Gal on the highway but I do think the way you drive has a lot to do with this.

Original equipment tires - Bridgestone Dueler 400 - are nearing the end of their treadlife on my 2008 Highlander Limited and I'm comparing the new Bridgestone Dueler 422 Ecopia to the new Yokohama YK580; it sounds like I'm perhaps 2-3 weeks behind you in the same process. I'm anxious to hear more about your evaluation of the YK580's as you gain miles/experience. I probably can't wait for a report on your May trip to Atlanta; irreparable puncture in the sidewall forced me to use the spare...so I'm now running with a "nailed" spare. Thanks for your reviews.
I have the YK520 on my Previa & I love them so I have no doubt that the newer YK580 is a fantastic tire.

Would you reccomend these for a full size truck? The website says passenger and CUV, however they pull up when I search tires for my truck. Thanks!
It depends on the load rating. If the tire has a load range = to the load range, speed rating and ply rating of your OE tire then yes they would be approved for your vehicle. If any of these are less, we would not recommend using them on your truck. Give us a call if we can help you more. We can look up the specs for the OE tire that came on your truck and give you some recommendations.
1.888.459.4080, anyone here would be happy to help you.

Our number one goal is our customers complete satisfaction so if you are unhappy with these tire I recommend taking them back. Your local store would be happy to put you into another tire model that suites your needs better.
What vehicle do you have an which tire size and pressure were you running?
Monday we put a set of YK580's on our 04 Quest with 110k miles and they ride smooth and quiet. Discount Tire also gave us a $180 discount since the previous Avid TRZ's didn't last as long as the warranty mileage. We have YK520's on the 07 Avalon with 70k and they're wearing pretty well, much quieter than the oem tires.

Hi FlyV,
Thanks again for your post. You report a quiet ride with the YK580s on your 09 Highlander. But, Chris D in his 3/22/12 post reports they are very, VERY loud on his car. I really appreciate reading everyone's posts. Do you have an opinion about what might cause these tires to provide a quiet ride on your Highlander while Chris D reports a very different experience?
I just bought a set of the yk580's and wheels,
these tires at the proper pressure are very VERY loud.
I really liked the yk520's I had on my minitruck tho..
It seems that 520 treadware is where it draws the line on it's ability to keep quiet..
I mite even make a video to show what people can expect out of these for
YouTube since I'm stuck with these for the next 60k or so..
Hi Chris D,
Thanks for your post. You report a very VERY loud ride but didn't mention make/model/age of your vehicle. FlyV reported the ride is quiet on his 09 Highlander. Do you have an opinion about what might cause these tires to provide a quiet ride for FlyV while you experience a very loud ride? Appreciate your feedback!
