Dumb Question about rear speakers

Okay, this is a dumb question, but I'm stuck. My son has a '91 Toy Corolla. His stock rear speakers are shot and we want to replace them. The problem is that we don't know how to get out the old ones. They are the OEM Toy ~5-inch speakers that are mounted in small plastic enclosures on top of the rear horizontal panel behind the rear seats. From underneath in the trunk we can see the tips of 3 screws for each speaker projecting down through plastic inserts that are embedded in the steel of the trunk roof,. Obviously the screws need to be accessed from the top (i.e., inside the cab), but we're at a loss how to access them. Do the plastic speaker enclosures pop off? Do I have to pull the rear seat? Like I said, this is a dumb question, but we can't figure it out. Help!
Thanks in advance,
Mark

All toyota rear speakers that I've came accross required that you take off the rear deck to access them. You'll most likely have to pull off the back seat. You might also need to take out the rear pillar covers too.

IMO, Just disconnect them and spend money on the front speakers. That is afterall where you sit in the car.

By going to the COROLLA forum and typing remove seat I found a thread telling about the speakers.
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t63838.html
Now it still doesn't say how to remove the seat, but all toyota seats I've removed so far go the same way. Pull up the front edge of lower part. When it unsnaps move it out the way. Some have bolts in bottom of top part and some don't.
Good luck and check out the search features.

Alright! Thanks Cam and Tercel. We'll see if the rear seat comes out without a fight tomorrow. In any case, thanks again...

Cheers,
Mark

The rear speakers are 5-1/4" diameter.

If you're willing to do some cutting, putting some 5x7s or 6x9s in there and bass blockers on the 4" speakers on the front, it would sound better.
