Is there any mp3/aux input HU compitable with Camry's wheel control?
I like my camry to be equipted with mp3/CD capacity and aux-input capacity, the best thing I can think of is a after market head unit. I like the wheel control very much as well.
I did some search in the forum. From my understanding, a adapter by PAC will be required, as what is discussed before. Since techology advances fast, I'm wondering if there is any other option come out recently to make the after maket Head unit more compitable with the wheel control?
Well if you have a controller that goes to a Aftermarket HU and you are good at electronics you can rig the aftermarket controller to be controlled by the steering wheel. But its not easy.
Thanks for the info. I am just an ordinary driver. I would like to pay others to have it done in a professional and more efficient way, if there is one. It's so sad to hear that there is not a kit ready yet.
yes there is a factory toyota headunit with everything you want. it has mp3, wma playback and has steering wheel control. itsa jbl amp system so you would have to add the external jbl amp if you dont presently have it. the price at toyota dealer 800.00. i have a new one for 250.00 and is better than any aftermarket at that price. i have pictures of the unit email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com
the Toyota JBL DSP system is garbage. overpriced as well!
The new Eclipse units (8455, 8445, 5435, 5425) do have optional steering wheel controls via E-iSERV. You log into their website, download the configuration for your vehicle, burn it to CD and pop it into the head unit.

the jbl is made by the same fujitsu company as eclipse . yes 800.00 is overpriced but i have a new 2006 model has evertything asked for by the club member.he wont have to buy a special adapter for 50.00 just to fit the eclipse in his dash as the toyota stereos are wider than douyble din eclipse. you have been brainwashed by aftermarkewt sellers. they are high watt low efficiecy systems. the jbl is low watt high effeiciency system and sounds fine for the oem cars they were specifically desgned for. you are comparing apples and oranges when you compare oem to aftermarket. the jbl amp wont make your car have horrible rattles and make your battery go dead like aftermarket amps. everyone doesnt want to go deaf with an aftermarket system blasting their eardrums.also with the jbl you can still hear police sirens so its even a safer system then afteremarket amps. no it wont win any stereo contests like the $5000 systems your comparing it too. but for 99% of owners jbl sounds just fine.
So which car comes with an Aux input standard besides the new Scions?(Remember, he is looking for an Aux, input) And with the amount of work that is involved with installing the JBL amp and wiring up the speakers to it, you'd be better off IMO with getting a decent aftermarket headunit that allows you to make upgrades to the sound system better.

"better" in what ways? Does this factory unit have crossover controls? More eq than a 3 band treble, mid, and bass? RCA line outputs? Time Alignment, etc.?
I don't think this 250 dollar system is going to do anything more for him than allow him the ability to play an MP3 encoded disc(if that, are you sure it reads mp3's?)
yes it isa toyota factory unit and to the right of the gold TOYOTA NAME it says WMA in capital gold letters and below it says mp3 in small gold letters the 4 buttons on the bottom read am fm2 fm2 and DISC AUX also on the back connctors IT HAS THE 6 PIN 10 PIN RADIO connector ports SO DOESNT NEED AN external AMP. it will plug into any toyota with internal amplifier from 1988 up. it is a fujitsu made unit same company as eclipse. it also has the small 20 pin connector wirh steering wheel controls on pin 6 7and 8. and a 12 pin cd changer aux input jack. so thats where xm radio or an ipod jack could be plugged in and would be controlled by the disc aux button. the part number is 86120-52530. i got it from a floida company that installs navigation systems in brand new toyotas so they remove the stock 2006 radios.
That's cool, so DavidLucas needs to weigh his options if he want's to pay 250 dollars to get a factory cd player that reads mp3's. The one he has also has the ability to accept an aux input via aftermarket interface.
The only reason I said what I did, is because this will not be a "better" cd player than what can be had for 250 dollars online. But if davidlucas want's to stay stock looking, your headunit will do the job great that's for sure.
Good to know there is a decent factory alternative for AUX-input and MP3 without going with the JBL system.
IMHO, aftermarket is still an excellent option. If you shop around you can find a setup with more functionality for less than half the price as the Toyota HU.
i will drop the price to 195.00 shipped and send david lucas photo directions on how to install it himself. no ionstaltion charge, no tax . no shipping charge .no further parts needed. it is plug in and play. it has the 20 pin toyota steering wheel connctor. no aftermarket installer telling him he needs new amps and new speakers to make his 125.00 aftermarket cd unit work and sound right . his low watt high effeciency factory speakers which were not designed to work with high watt low effeicncy aftermarket systems.
you keep saying that. i don't think you know what it means.
i think its you thats been brainwashed by the salesman that told you that premium sound was better than sex.
sorry, i just feel dirty the way you're pushing that head unit on this guy like its heroin or sumfin.
Yes That Is The Exact Difference Elecronically Betweeen Oem And Aftermarket Systems Thats Why Aftermarket Headunits Sound Bad When Played Through Factory Speakers And Vice Versa.////////////////////////////////////////////// I Answered A Question On This Forum Asking For A Factory Headunit That Did The Things David Lucas Asked For I Could Care Less If He Buys It. //////////////////////////////////////////as Far As As Oem Stereo Systems Of Course A $5000 Aftermarket System Sounds Better Than Oem. Everytime I've hooked up an aftermarket CD player, the sound out of the factory speakers was a vast improvement.

Looks to me like he was asking about a device to work with an aftermarket headunit.

But maybe OEM is not adequate for him, hence the reason he is wanting to go aftermarket.
BTW Caps Lock is not needed, it means you are trying to shout. Are you mad at us for posting info that goes against what you are trying to sell?
