Try and get your hands on an amp that puts out at least 300watts @ 4 ohms. Stick to reputable brands (ie. Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, Rockford, JBL etc..) and get the best amp you can afford.

What's your budget?

Why in gods green earth do you want 2 8" bass tubes? If they make a 10 or a 12 I'd get one of those. As far as amps like Phi said "What's your Budget"?

Without boring and confusing you more...basically Ohms is a unit used to measure electrical resistance(ie Inches=Distance). In the context of car audio, it allows flexability in term of configuration with multiple voice coils. In addition, the dream of every audiophile is to get the lowest resistance possible, but like any thing in this world...moderation. Once you lower the Ohm rating you cause the amp to work harder , resulting in heat which isa big no-no. Okay I'm rambling know so I'll stop. When I get home I'll post a really good site you can read at your leisure.

In a perfect world where money was not object, you should get a 1 channel "D-class" or competition rated amp. However, the reality is most of us don't need that type of amp, let alone afford it. Just get an amp that can put out 300watts bridged (anther term which basically used to describe the combining/bridging or 2 channels into 1 ) at 4Ohms.

Again, what is your budget? Look on ebay for some great deals. Just make sure you buy from vendor with a good rating and alot of transactions (ie. 1000+)

For that price, you can get a pretty decent brand name amp (ie. Rockford, JBL, Kenwood, Pioneer, MTX). Whatever you do don't get Sony, Lazar and those other sh1t brands. There's 121 pgs of amps on Ebay, take your pick. Don't forget to grab a wiring kit while you're at it. Let us know how thigs work out or if you need more help 8)

I dont care for the never sony amps. The older ES amps were nice, but I've heard about a lot of people having problems with newer sony amps.

The new rockford amps arent that great either. They used to be really underrated, which isnt the case anymore. They arent bad amps, just have gone downhill in the last few years.

For price vs perfomance sub amps, IMO the JBL BP series cant be beat, and for speaker amps USAcoustics is probably one of the best bang for the buck deals.

I had a JBL 300 hooked up to a 12 perfect and it sucked. I traded it in for a Orion XTR300 and it blew its doors off.

i need a sponsorship, Premier and JL Audio whoop ass

Supposedly a friend of mine bought a rockford 1500 watt amp off ebay for like 15$, dont know if it was a scam or not(sure does sound like it) he has not got the shipment in yet so we'll see.

Don't get me wrong. Like XR250rdr said, it's great bang for your buck. What I mean by that, is you get a decently built product, good customer support, great looks, etc...Is it a great amp? prolly not. There are better choices provided you have the budget.

I'd say there are basically 3 levels of amps avail in the market today to cater to differnet market segments and budgets;

i) stuff with stupid high pwr ratings (+1000watts) that look cool (matter of opinion) that is geared towards ignorant consumers looking to impress their highschool friends. (ie. Lazar, Jenson, Sony Xplod, BootyBanger or whatever crazy name they can think of)

ii) moderate to high quality amps the average to advanced audiophile would be interested in. Generally they are reputable companies that have a strong presence in the 12volt arena (ie. MTX, Pioneer, JBL, Rockford, Kenwood, Alpine and other household brands)

iii) then we have the cream of the crop that specialize is strictly providing the serious bassheads with their focus strictly on reliable, clean pwr. Alot of them are butt ugly, but get the job done right. These are stuff dreams are made of (ie. JL, Macintosh, Orion, Soundstream, PPI, Xtant, MMats, Nakamichi)

One isn't necessarily better than the other. You have to facter in your budget, the subs/components that are complimenting the amps, style, and plain old brand loyalty.
