I upgraded my 94 camry's system this summer and im looking to finish it off, I have a pioneer 50x4 HU, alpine s-type 6.5" in the door and alpint s-type 6x9's in the rear deck and they are powered by a 40x4 alpine amp. Im looking to add subs to the set and i was thinking about two image dynamics, i listen to all types of music so i want the bass to be there to compliment my rock and it really to be there for rap. what amp would you recomenber and what is the deal with dampening you trunk, ive heard of people taking out their 6x9's cuase of problems they were having would mine be ok or whats the deal with that. my budget for the amp is prob around 300 i want a pretty decent one, any suggestions
Cam, did you ever get one of those Quart amps? Just wondering what it actually puts out (bench test anywhere?)
How cheap are we talkin if we go PP?
I like my MTX, but like everyone says, this hobby is an addiction, and I'm always lookin' for a little more output. If my math is right, my MTX does about 126 watts to each sub (Alpine 1241SWE) x 2. And thats Class D power, I can only imagine how much better it would sound AB. I wouldn't mind takin' some baby steps up the power range and whatnot, but my cashflow is, well, non-existent, but I might be able to swing something. Let me know.

I haven't got one, but I think I am going to get a RAA4200, and an RAA2400 for my front stage, then another RAA2400 for the subs.
The RAA4200 will power the Tweeters and Midrange' sending 100 watts rms each, and the RAA2400 will power the 8" Midbass's at 200 watts rms x 2 @ 4 ohms. Then I will run the second RAA2400 either in stereo at a 2 ohm load to each channel to send 400 watts to each sub, or just bridge the amp(depends on what subs I end up using)
Cliff Notes:
271.6W x 2 @ 4 ohms with 14.07 Volts
238.4W x 2 @ 4 ohms with 13.28 Volts
402.7W x 2 @ 2 ohms with 13.06V
450.6W x2 @ 2 ohms with 13.83V
715.6W x1 Bridged @ 4 ohms with 130.8V
829.4W x1 Bridged @ 4 ohm with 13.84V
Not bad for 250 bucks shipped with full warranty. BTW these are made by Rockford. Probably same quality as their top of the line.

I consider these amps a baby step to what I really want
