Question For those who have done the BIG 3 upgrade

Sup there, I was just about to do the big 3 upgrade, but I only got two out of the 3 done so far, the battery negative to chassis ground and engine block to battery negative (a more direct route then going to chassis first). The only one I still need to do is the battery positive to the alternator positive, but I was hesitate. The reason is because I thought I heard somewhere that you need to fuse this connection, or you would be in danger. So for those TN'er that have done the BIG 3 upgrade, did you actually fuse this connection? and if yes, what fuse rating did you use? Does it matter on your alternator? or what your wire is rated at? Just as a heads up, i'm using 4 gauge Kolussus Kable from www.knukonceptz.com in my 1994 Camry LE. Thanks in advance if you can help.

I have done the big three, and yes i used a fuse. You MUST USE A FUSE!!!! Unless of course u wanna blow your battery/alternator to hell if there was a malfunction.

I used a Barrel-Inline Type fuse and connector. Rated at 80A. Im not sure what my alternator is rated at, but im guessing its something like 40A. Ive had no problems. And i used 4 ga. Wire from Lightning Audio.

So yes install a fuse. any old barrel will do.

theres no way ur alt is rated at 40 amps. atleast 80amps.

i used a 100amp fuse on mine cuase my alt is rated at 100amps. at first i used a 80a becuase i wasnt sure what the stock fuse was for the alt. look under the cover where the fuses are and it will say what ur alt is rated at

Yeah, I remember you... forgot your name, but I remember who you were. You had a unique looking blue Camry. But yeah, I've been doing good, got some more stuff done on the Camry since it was last seen, haha, that's for sure. Seems, like you been doing pretty good yourself, got promoted to moderator eh? Well, maybe see you again someday in one of these upcoming San Diego meets... Just PM me or something, I don't get to go on to TN as much as I would like to, been busy with school and work.
