In Dash DVD Suggestion?

I was lookin at this behemoth Eclipse AVN7000. But that may be slightly out of my range. i dunno...
Or maybe the 5495? I was just lookin @ Eclipse because You guys says they're a good line. Better than the AVIC line of stuff right?

Do you want the built in 30 GB hard drive? If not the 5435 is 1699 shipped @ crutchfield with warranty.

I can get it for about 100 bucks cheaper than that though

Or maybe one of those 10% off coupons would work with the Crutchfield AVN.

Have you given some thought about a carputer??? You can get one for about $1,000 and it'll be a helluva lot more versatile than any in-dash.

100GB harddrive, digital out (only matters if you have an external pre-amp/processor), BlueTooth, wireless G, etc...

You need to build the carputer...

And use a VGA in-dash monitor.

or equip the carputer with a Video card that has Video Output (S-Video, Composite) Almost every graphics card out there now has at least S-Video out, and there are adapters for composite. So a regular carputer can work on a in-dash moniter fine.

If you want to use a carputer that draws a lot more voltage than one with onboard video then sure, that's the way to go... Or if you want 400:300 resolution...

There's no comparison in image quality between VGA and S-Video. Composite is just out've the question.

A good carputer will run you about $600 built. A monitor is about $400.

scince i built one yo! I mean its a lil ghetto and not as nice as the one on mp3car.com but it works. I built it off a MicroATX motherboard, and used a power inverter to power it.

Hey, whatever works right?

Do you have any pics?? I plan on running my carputer (which is sitting 5 ft from me) off an inverter hard-wired into the battery...

The Harddrive can save music though >_>; I saw the 5495 for $2K on Ebay... I dunno.. i still have time to choose. I dunno why.. but I don't want a carputer. I'm not too worried about versatility, I want the Navigation and DVD capabilities and dont mind payin for the eclipse. Maybe I'll see a setup that'll change my mind.

You could get the Alpine DVA-7996 on ebay right now (the one that I'm considering) and connect it to a monitor...

You'd have one helluva headunit (with optical out) and still save some money..

Guy is *asking* $550. You can probably talk him down to $500..

Or another option is to get a DVA-9860 and do the same.... Cheaper solution...
