Camry Sub Setup Pics

Hi. I'm looking for some ideas on how to setup my subs. I can't decided if i want to go to all teh trouble of building 2 seperate fiberglass boxes for each side, or it I want to just build a mdf box with both 10's in there and have that fire into the back of the rear seat or what. I suppose anycar's setup would be helpful, but Gen 3 camry's would be the best. Thanks in advance

building fiberglass boxes into the side pockets of th trunk is a bad idea i think. I built some in my Gen5 and they cracked from all the bouncing around and road vibration, and it didnt sound very good either.

Your best bet is to just build a standard box with 3/4" MDF. I had my subs in a MDF box and frontword firing and it sounded terrible, rear firing sounds much better.

but thats my 2 1/2 cents

i had my speakers facing towards the front of the car but it only sounded good with some songs. songs like "back down" "just a lil bit" "soul survior" sounded like crap. the bass just wasnt hitting right. i turned them around facing the back but not to close to the trunk lid and it sounded really good......

thats how i have them right now. when i had my box where i currently have my amps the trunk ratlle to much and bass didnt sound to good. so u pushed the box back and the amps up and this was the way it sounded best in MY car.....

So that's all MDF wrapped in carpet? Also, why do you have a prop rod, does that box fit with all the stock spring things there for the trunk lid?

My guess is that he covered the trunk lid with sound deadening material which made it heavy enough that it won't stay up by it self. Either that, or he's got a really big and heavy wing on the trunk.

Grayguy yes it is all MDF...lots of it....and if you look on the last pic you will see WHY I need a prop rod, there is a LCD mounted in the trunk.....setup came out seamless, but I went a little overboard on bondo and fiberglass and it became HEAVY.....

touringcamry Yes it is sound deadened behind it....and I'ma you for the wing comment... factory spoiler only

LiquidClen you REALLY don't want to know the man hours and $ sunk into this car....I stopped counting at the $15k mark....check out show and share forum for more pics, I have 2 posts there with detailed pics of the car. actual enclosure for those subs is 1.15 cu', not big, but soo tight. No cardomain on this car....yet

Thanks for the props guys.....There is SO much more coming for this car

cost of the box materials.......figure $125 in MDF and carpet
Man hours, figure somewhere in the ball park of 15
hardest part was the false floor.....look carefully at the pics of the trunk floor, there is a loop so the floor comes out giving you access to the spare tire and whatever else you put in it.

you can pic up a box of similar spec (enclosure only) for something like $125
