anyone hear anything about polk car audio products. I know there home theater stuff is good but how about the car components

They have one set that is really good, but it's like 700 bucks and it uses 250 dollars worth of DIY speakers.

Other than that set, I'd look elsewhere.

Car stuff is ok but their older stuff (MOMO) is better. Like their current subs aren't so hot.

But that forum is pretty much based on the fact that you are going to wire active. Which isn't the best idea for someone new to Car Audio.

I usually rec. the JL XR and Alpine Type-X components for a decent "budget" high end component set. They're good speakers and you can usually find these on demo somewhere.

Both are about 200-210 shipped online.

If you want to spend more there's a little bit better stuff to chose from.
