hey guys...in regards to sound quality, if i keep my stock original speakers and if i upgrade to a 98 camry system (double din CD and cassette) from my current system (double din but i have a pocket, so all i have is cassette) what kind of improvements can i expect to see?
will there even be any improvements? one of the reasons i'll be doing that is to get a CD player in my dash and have a cassette deck... but can i expect anything? a bit better bass? a bit clearer sound? or do those depend solely on the speakers? thanks!

if your going from just tape, to now cd and tape, then the cd player will give you clear sound. that's about it. best bet is still to get an aftermarket HU with higher wattage and then upgrade speakers.
yeah, that's what i was thinking...its just that my friend own a 2001 camry CE. he has the same stereo i am looking at getting. i'm pretty positive he has the exact same type of speakers we're running stock in our gen 3.5s...but his has bass like crazy on his stereo and its not modified at all, all stock.. that's why i thought maybe a newer unit maybe better in a sense.

^^ well, just to clear some things up for me. i remember that the camry stereos came with either a built in or an external. however, irregardless of which, wasn't power output the same? i thought that irregardles whether it was an internal or evternal amp the total power output was the same...

My 2000 Camry has 6.75 woofers and I think 3/4" tweeters in the front door and 6x9s in the back. The 6x9s are mainly responsible for the bass you hear in the 2001 Camry. I dunno if your car has 6x9s or not...The newere stereo might also have a built in equalizer setting that is different from your which may cause it to output more bass.
Do you think you could convince your friend to let you borrow his stereo for a couple hours? If his stereo has external amp, then you'd be a bit SOL, but it's worth a shot.

yeah, i'll try to talk him into it...we don't live too far away from each other anyways but yeah...
and yes, i do have 6x9 in the back in my cam. i'll see if i can try his stereo out in mine.
oh, and the reason why i'm not going aftermarket is that i like a factory look and for the price i'm getting it at, it sure is one helluva deal.
