WTF? Isn't your HU alone about $1300? Good price what ever you did.

Best deals are on www.elitecaraudio.com 's for sale forum

Here's a breakdown

DRZ9255-625 Shipped, Used, but in xlnt cond. (1,399.00 MSRP New)
Audison LRX6SR-450 Delivered Brand New in Box (950.00 MSRP)
JL 10W6V2 With enclosure-125 Local pickup(Thanks CBRJAY!!!) (? MSRP)
Seas CA18RNX/P 90 shipped, basically new(MSRP 58.00 plus shipping each)
MB Quart QTC25 Tweeters 93 shipped used in xlnt condition with all mounting hardware(? MSRP, part of the QM/QSD Components)

Edit: I actually traded one of my Next amps for the Seas speakers, but I made about 50 bux profit off selling the other two amps, so in reality I ended up spending about 25 bux for the Seas.

Prolly because people who buy them want them for function more than looks. I guess...

But without a motorised face, it's less stuff to break also.

I think it's the classiest looking deck there is.

I mean yeah, it doesn't have Dolphins, or neon lights and a blinking lights, but it's got it's strong points like the Zinc plated noise rejecting faceplate, the copper plated chassis, the large spun aluminum volume control the neatly arranged buttons, etc.

My Eclipse doesn't look like much either. It has some animations on there, but I've never used them. I thought they were more annoying than anything else. I prefer to have it display the track number, track name, or radio frequency instead. I also like how the display shows the function of the softkeys (the buttons number 1-6 that have different function depending on the mode of the radio). Ie in tuner mode (AM/FM) it displays the station presets next to the soft keys, in CD mode, it'll display the repeat, random, folder up/down, and play/pause function next to the softkeys. This is one of the few stereos I've messed with that label the soft keys. The other was my Toyota OE stereo that displayed the CD functions above the number keys. Most others I've messed with just have teh function printed near the buttons with no illumination at night.

I thought the face on that was made from cast zinc, not just plated. Plated zinc would wear off too fast on the face with frequent use. Are the buttons zinc also?

So, aside from taking out your trash, what makes the HU so expensive? I noticed you have no corssover or EQ in the diagram, does this HU take care of that?

Yes, that's what's so cool about this headunit. It's the only one out there with a built in 4 way crossover. Which will allow you to run a fully active 3 way front and sub. It also has a 5 band parametric EQ. My Eclipse had a 10 Band Parametric EQ and I only used 2 bands very slightly, one at 63 hz to turn down the midbass and one at 6khz to attentuate the tweeters a couple of clicks. So I'm not concerned about the limited EQ bands, I don't use them anyways, don't need to.

The reason it cost's so much is because of the high quality componentry used.

Wow, that thing is amazing!

So are there any amps that accept digital input yet? Even without using the digital outs, that thing looks awesome. Way out of my price league, though I could have done without buying the EQT's and just used the Clarion with an amp and speakers from JC Whitney....

Pioneer ODR amps accept optical in. But it doesn't make too much sense to make amps with digital input because you would need like 4 channels of optical output in order to send a crossed over signal to each amp for a fully active setup.

I'll be using the Optical Input for a Carputer. I'll set up the Carputer as kind of like an Auxilary accesory. Basically I'll be able to store as much music as I want in full lossless definition(not MP3) play it off the carputer, control the tracks through the 10.2" Touchscreen and control the crossover/eq output of the music through the DRZ. I can also setup the carputer to have a 31 band eq if I want it. It's gonna be cool
