3rd Generation tweeter placement: dash?

has anyone mounted their tweeters on the dash, so that it reflects off the windshield? in both of my other family cars(odyssey and pilot) the stock tweeters are up on the dash. i havent seen it done here at all, so i was wondering if it didnt produce a good soundstage in the gen 3 camry?

The dash mounted tweeter will make the sound stage higher. But there is a possibility of separation due to the distance between the woofer (in the doors) and the tweeter. To combat this you can make the tweeter play a broader spectrum (crossed at a lower frequency to try to blend in better). It is also not a good idea to mount them up firing into the windsheild. I'd say you should aim them at the not sideways but not directly at the other sides seat. (ie Passenger side aiming them about a foot in front of the driver headrests, and same with the other side but with the other seat)

But personally i like to place the tweeter in the kick panels. This is firstly closer to the woofers but the stage height might be lower. You will need to tune it to make the best out of this position. But when it is tuned, it should sound awesome. I aim my one straight to the other side of the car and not at the head rest as my tweeters are superb off axis.

Btw i have dynaudio 240gt splits =)

it completely depends on what tweeters and other drivers you are using. that is a very difficult question to answer without knowing that. lots can be said for the theory of how to install speakers, but the best way to go about it is by placing the speakers in every angle and location immaginable and seeing what sounds best.
