Ok, before I ask this, I'll state that I fully intend to do this the right way, but my cars getting torn apart again in teh spring so...
Would it help keep road noise down at all if I put some budget deadener in. I was thinking carpet insulation/padding in above the head liner, and maybe some normal insalation under the rear deck. Maybe carpet stuff behind the door panels too? I know it's ghetto, but I'm finally giving up on the interior color-change project till the summer and am putting my interior back in. thoughts?
Dont even bother IMO, Id wait to save up a little more money and get RAAMmat. Its awesome stuff and much cheaper and better than Dynomat. Its also butyl based, unlike Dynomat, which is tar? based, I think. Cam2xrunner knows all about it, I know he'll get in on this topic
I fully intend to get good stuff. But there's no way I'm spending a couple hundred just to have to rip it out in 6 months when the car gets repainted. So, I guess it'll just be load and obnoxous till then.
Regular dynamat is asphalt based. Dynamat Extreme is butly based with an aluminum layer similar to RAAMmat. I'd say wait and get the RAAMmat, similar in quality to the Dynamat Extreme, less expensive because its less known.
if you are painting the car, why would you need to take of your sound deadener? it goes under the factory pannels on the metal part of your doors and car. it should have nothing to do with painting it. buying carpet like you were talking about will not be a bad idea. lots of people do this on top of their sound deadeinging to help reduce road noise and rattles. worst case, you could just do it backwards (start with carpeting and then later on raamat the car and put the carpet back). it will definately not hurt anything.

Never tried the damplifier, but if you're gonna go SS, then you may as well pick up some Sludge (or Spectrum if you want to spray it on). Works well for getting into tight places and odds and ins.

I don't have a problem with my sludge. Actually did a great job on my rear wheel wells. I plan on using it on my front ones as soon as I get some time.

Well, have you ever painted a car? Pretty much anything that has a an ability to absorb smells will. So if I did it before, it would hold the paint smell for quite sometime.
Thanks for all the info. I'm pretty sure when I get to it, I'll be getting RAAM mat stuff...
