Question 2005 Camry Front Speaker Replacement

I went to crutchfield.com and other places to find replacements for the 2005 stock front speakers. The only replacements that come up are for the back speakers (6 x 9 in). I really want to replace the stock front speakers with Polks or something else good. What size speakers are they in front and can they easily be replaced?

Thumbs up Thanks guys!

Biglou,

I would like some advice on the install. I managed to find Polks at a relatively good price, so I ended up getting all 4. I have seen some mounting brackets for the Camry on e-Bay. I assume that's necessary unless I want to start drilling. Is that more or less correct or is there something else I should know.

Thanks in advance!

Did you already get the speakers? Which Polks did you get?
Components will sound better than coaxials but install is a bit more involved.

Speakers and Mounting Kit

Here is the mounting kit on ebay (item number 5846850198).

I purchased the Polk DB690s.

In case the above ebay link doesn't work for you as sometimes happens to ebay links, here's another link that hopefully works to the mounting kit.

BTW, I did notice that it doesn't list the rear speaker mounts for the '05 Camry...
  • 02-05 Toyota Camry (front doors)
  • 98-01 Toyota Camry (rear deck)
  • 05+ Toyota Tacoma (front doors)
  • 92-96 Lexus ES300 (rear)
  • 01-05 Lexus IS300 (rear)
  • may fit other vehicles
So I guess that even if I were to get this I'd be in for some drilling, though I don't feel as bad about drilling in the back of the car.

u should have 6x9's in the doors & reardeck with a 3.5" in the dash.If u do components u can stick the mids in the doors then install the tweets up on the dash, keeping it looking stock.

Smile Thanks for the advice...

I also found some interesting stuff on this website after searching far and wide.

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t114109.html

I know, I know... I should have looked there first, but it was hard to find. Others may find the PDF files and diagrams helpful if considering this as well. And yes, keeping the stock look is the goal so the car doesn't look like theif bait. I live in the DC area and my Isuzu Amigo got broken into for the stereo. So as much as I think the speakers look cool, they're staying hidden in the Camry. (I'm keeping the stock stereo despite a sincere desire to upgrade it as well.)
