I've been out of the loop for a long time and the PPI A-600 was the best amp I could get my hands on back in my day. Take a moment to laugh, it's ok.
I'm looking for the best 4 channel amp (100+ watts X4) that $500 bucks can buy. I want to push a pair of JL Audio 6 1/2" components and one JL Audio 10" sub (W6v2 or W7) in a sealed box. My total budget for the components, sub, and amp is $1000. Also if anybody can suggest something better, please advise. "Better" means sound quality. I don't care about spl. I want a clean, tight sound that covers the best sound spectrum. Thanks

I'm also a fellow past a-600 user...great amp. nowadays people look to Arc Audio and Tru amps....might be out of the $500 budget however....why not try and grab a couple A600's off ebay? i almost did, until I found a company called elemental designs and ended up with a nine.2 amp and some eDi 6500s comps for under $400 shipped.
If you're interested I am selling my MB Quart QAA4250. It does 250 watts rms x 4. You can run the front channels to your JL's and bridge the rear channels to 500 watts rms.

i cant believe you would take a eD amp over a PPI amp.
Think about it the links and posts about ED are almost 2 years old. I frequent the board that ed runs and have never seen Ben remove anything. Yes there have been some problem posts in the past and I have seen the people taken care of also. My next amp will be ED. (I am waiting for the Nine.5 to be released)

hmmmmmmm....I wonder if eD is the only company out there that has had an unhappy customer? If I refused to buy things from a company that had a customer complain, I would be pretty much making my own amps and speakers here at the house now wouldn't I? I would guess that the ppi600 am IS a better built amp than the Nine.2, but I made the choice to go with eD and I have had nothing but positive experiences with the company. If that changes I will be sure to let you know.

Bruce MacMillan was the designer of the original PPI Art series amplifiers, original Xtant (B4 MTXtant) and the JL Audio "Slash" amps and "e"series. The 300/4 has an MSRP of $549.95. This amp meets your budget and your old-school values.
This amplifier produces 4 x 75 Watts into an impedance range of 1.5 -4 ohms. If you find an amplifier that is 4 x 100 Watts, it's probably into a 2 ohm load at 14.4V input. Which is great for all those cars with 14V charging systems and locations for 8 speakers.
Last I heard Ben Has said they are on stage 5 of the production and testing. I don't know how many stages there are though
it will probablly be a Nine.2 or Nine.2x and a Nine.4 in one heatsink I get all gooey thinking about it!
