Blaupunkt & MTX

Ok... so I'm a sucker for cheap stuff... I got my paycheque yesterday and it was more than I expected, so I half splurged on some cheap crap for the Camry. I paid $30 for a 12" MTX Terminator and $10 for a Blaupunkt BEA-100 equilizer... I think it's actually a mini-amp/equilizer, but I figured I may as well try to run the sub through it, and for $10 I can't really go wrong. I know I should've checked all this out before I picked the stuff up, and I don't have any diagrams or anything, but is it possible to wire this thing up? I've decided I've figured out how it works, and I've taken a look at a couple of the stickies on the site. I don't really care if I fry the EQ or the sub... they're so cheap that it's fine. I just don't want to fry any electronics or the radio in the car now. Now, the EQ doesn't have a sub output, it's actually made for a 4-speaker system... can I splice the left and right rear speaker cables together from the EQ and run them to the sub? There's also one positive lead from the battery and one from the radio... from the wiring diagrams of similar EQ models (I can't find one specific to this) the battery one is for constant power and the radio one is just for when the radio is on... does anyone know why there is two? Is there usually two? Next, there's one tab sticking out of the back that's screwed into case of the EQ... it's got no wires connected to it, but I'm assuming it's the ground... finally, there's two sets of cables coming out the back. I've checked the wiring diagrams for the similar EQ models, and I've sorted out that one is the left input, and one is the right. I don't necessarily want to run wires all the way back from the front of the car if I can avoid it... and I don't want to actually rip out the stereo itself... so is it ok to splice the positive and negative wires from the rear shelf speakers into the left and right inputs, run one set of outputs to a sub, and route the other set back to the rear shelf speakers? I plan on making the sub removable, seeing as other people use the car and sometimes space is necessary, so I'm sorting out what kind of jacks I want... I might go with 1/4" plugs, seeing as I have some spare jacks laying around... can I just set it up so that I can unplug the rear shelf speakers and plug in the sub instead, but permenantly run everything through the EQ?

I apologize for the long post... if it turns out that no one is reading this or posting, I'll shorten it up. I want to get this sorted out for this weekend... preferably even tommorow afternoon... so any input would be greatly appreciated. Again, I don't care if either the sub or the EQ gets fried... it's not a big deal to me. I just want to make sure nothing else dies on me. Thanks in advance.

no

Not gonna work. There wll be no music produced by an equalizer. You need an amplifier to amplify the signal.

A Pre amp and an Amp are two completely different things.

Get a refund and start saving up.

If you want an inexspensive, DECENT sub do a www.froogle.com search on JWS-10 or JWS-12

It is an exact clone of a Ver. 1 JL Audio W6.

THen you can buy a two channel amp for it for another 50-70 bucks,

Bah, oh well. I'll just run the sub through my home stereo... it doesn't sound too bad. Thanks for the reply... I'll try to track down an amp this week... what would be the lowest wattage I should go? I really don't have a lot of money, and I'm not planning on impressing anyone... I just want to be able to turn my stereo a little louder with the bass on without getting too much distortion.

Depends on the ohm load the sub has. If it's a single 4 ohm, I'd just get a 2 channel amp rated for 50-75 watts rms x 2 and bridge it.
