Canada [HELP] noobie to audio world

ok here's the deal...

everything is stock in my 2000 Echo 4 dr auto... radio/casette player & speakers...

i'm poor... but i wanna change at least my speakers... my main music source is my olympus m:robe mp3 player which is connected to the radio thru a cassette adapter...

i think i have 6 speakers... 2 in dash, 2 each front doors and 2 in the back...

so far... i read somwhere else that the dash fits a 4"; the doors fit a 6.5" as long as it's 2 3/16" depth; and the rear fits a 6x9...

i just picked myself a Pioneer TS-G650M for $79 canadian... like i mentioned earlier i'm poor so i'm doing this 1 set at a time... so now i guess i'll be starting with this puppies for my doors...

now... how the heck do i do it? take off the door cover, unscrew the old speakers, screw the new one and then i'm done? or are there more steps to that...

if you're from vancouver, bc canada... do u know a place where they sell not so expensive speakers? and a cheap place who does nice installs? thanks...

eventually... i wanna put in a sub too... do i need an amplifier for that? if so... which kind considering that i have 6 speakers plus subwoofer...

thanks alot!!!

that's a decent pair of budget speakers. the frequency response is good and they're pretty efficient. if they don't exceed your mounting depth, it should be a simple operation. pay attention to which post (+/-) the speaker wires are on when you take them off of the factory speakers so you don't wire them up backwards to your new speakers. if the speaker wires are attatched to the speaker with an adapter, you may have to get a wiring diagram to determine which wire is positive and which is negative. do a sound check before you put the panel back on and you should be set.

eD is nice and all, but I don't think thats going to work with his budget all too well.

First advice, check out e-bay for cheap stuff.

Secondly, don't skimp on the front stage (door and dash speakers) and get a good component set.

Third, look for a good amp for the front stage.

Try that out and see how much you like it. You never know, it could be enough of an improvement that you don't need the rears and sub.

Instead of buying three sets of speakers, use the money on one good 6.5" component set for the front. I'd say just skip on rear speakers all together, but if you must have rear fill, those pioneers you bought should work fine.

Your budget can afford you an excellent set of components AND an amp.

I would look into the Alpine Type-X 6.5" components (SPX-177R) and the JL XR 6.5" components. Both can be had for about 200 USD online and that will leave you another 200+ USD on an amp.

I'd join www.elitecaraudio.com and check out the for sale forum, tons of great gear for really good prices.
