Subwoofer for 03'avalon

I recently installed a single 12 inch in my trunk. I believe it is connected to the original subwoofer that came with the car and to the original stereo system. At first it sounded very nice but if you really listen to the music, you can hear a ratteling sound coming from the rear of the car. I believe it is from the original subwoofer cause when i placed my hand on the speaker it stopped. I bringing the car back to the dealer whol installed the speaker to see what i can do about it but i was hoping that anyone else hs some suggestions. Would it be btter to disconnect to aftermarket subwoofer with the original????? I thought connecting them together would be great for a good surround sound.
Any suggestions

What kind of aftermarket sub is it? What is the ohm load?

If you're going to use an aftermarket sub it would be best to disconnect the factory sub AND get an aftermarket amp for the new sub.

Having two different speakers playing the same bass notes will not sound good.

It's best to replace the sub you are ugrading from.

I have a aftermarket amp, set up with the aftermarket subwoofer. The way it looks for me, both subwoofer were connected together through a adjustable output adapter but when i went to the dealer yesterday to see what can be done about the ratteling, he mentioned that both speakers are connected seperately. For the ratteling, i was told that it might could be the grille of the factory subwoofer and that it might be just loose. Also he suggested that i get a gain control installed so i can adjust the subwoofer from the front. Any advise on that? The sound all together does not sound bad, actually it is very good if i could get rid of that ratteling. Plus again, i still have the factory stereo in the car, i didnt wanna replace the unit since i have a wood trim in the car and i was told that if i replace the unit, the middle piece of the dash would have to be removed from the car.

Any advise out there. Any help is being appreciated
