Dayton Reference Mids, Car version now available

The highly praised Dayton Reference mids are now going to be available in a debucked 4 ohm version for the DIY car audio fans.

These are very affordable mids that have been highly regarded for great sound.

Check out this thread for more details.

Here is the 8 ohm sheilded version 7" that would work very well in a 2 way set with a tweeter that can play down to 2khz.

The speaker will be signifigantly shallower without the shielding magnet.

Now that I'm going to go Active with my speakers. I wish I didn't buy all these components sets and just bought seperate speakers. Then I could have higher quality speakers. Let down. Those look like some pretty sweet speakers.

The Parts Express warehouse is just a few miles away. You can get some pretty good deals in thier showroom.

I'll keep an eye out for those 4 ohms.

If I can't find the 4 ohm ones I might just go with the 8 ohm. I've got plenty of power to run 8 ohm mids.

Maybe put 'em with these tweets? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...46&rak=275-070

What do ya think?

Get the 4 ohm versions if you are going to be using these in the truck. The 7" mid without the shielding will fit fine in our trucks with a 3/4" adapter. I have heard numerous accounts of people ruining the drivers when debucking.

In the truck? It can be used if you were to take a dremel to the outer flange. The Dayton Reference tweeter is a better tweeter if you dont mind spending the money, but the mounting depth is a little too deep to work in the stock tweeter spot. But I'm sure with a little bit of modification to the door panel and the outer flange it should be able to fit.
