Gen5 Infinity

hey guys i have hookups with infinity audio equipment. i was thinking of getting components. which ones do u recommend and how much should they cost. and also is there a big difference between components and regular speakers?

Well if you have hook ups why not get the best ones you can.. which would be the kappa 6.1's or 5.1's. These are relatively expensive though so you should find out what kinda deal you are getting first before you make any decisions the only really difference is that the tweeter is not part of the midbass, simply the tweeter is placed about a 1-2 ft away and the actual speaker is just for midbass. So not really a big difference, but you will notice a big difference in sound by doing this. Comps in most cases are better.

components use separate speakers for different frequency ranges.

ex a tweeter is best suited for higher frequencies... ie. crashing cymbal and some high piano notes
3-5khz and up

midrange covers the midrange frequencies... ie. human voices, guitar, piano, etc...
800-1000hz to 3-5khz

midbass covers the lower frequencies, but not sub bass... ie. bass guitar, drums
80-100hz to 800-1000hz


this is a 3 way setup, but in a 2 way setup the midrange would be the same as the midbass.
