Circuit Breaker problems

Hey guys i was wondering if someone could help me with a quick question. My Circuit breaker to the amp keeps tripping. Now I recently added 1 Alpine type R to the setup and now it trips daily. But previously I only had two diamond audio hex series speakers hooked up and it tripped about 3 times in 2 years. The circuit breaker is a 100A cirucit breaker and i'm wondering if i should bump it up to a 140A circuit breaker or possibly just switch to a fuse. My setup is as follows, 2 Diamond hex series with crossovers and tweeters, Alpine V12 5- channel 1500w amp, and now 1 Alpine 12" type R. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jesse

What is the fuse rating on the amp onboard fuses?

The Amp is an Alpine MRV-F357 amp, and has two 25a fuses located on it

EDIT: I also re-ran my ground wire with a self tacking screw to underneath the rear seats. Also i had the ohm's tested at the local car audio and it read 2ohm if this helps any. I'm not sure how it is wired inside of the box since it was sealed and boxed when i bought it.

Well if your amp has 50 amps of fuse than I beleive there is a problem with your circuit breaker. I would get a new one or an inline fuse.

200a seems quite a bit like overkill to me. Just remember you want this thing to be able to burst incase of an energy surge. And i dont think that one amp is putting out enough amps to burst a 200a fuse.

Match the total of all your fuses in your system.

If that is the only amp you are using then use a 50 amp fuse. If you are using another amp too, then add the total amount of fuses to it and use that size fuse.

I wondered if maybe the sub was wired incorrectly but i figured it must be a dual 2 ohm wired serially i beliebe because it reads 2ohm on a multimeter on the box terminals. Someone had mentioned that that could cause it. I personally think the circuit breaker just stinks. Everytime it trips it seems way to hot and often takes several minutes to cool down before i can re-set it.

Well if you are tripping a 100 amp breaker without your 50 amp fuses going bad you know that you have a problem with the circuit breaker.

What ohm load is the sub channel stable to?

The online owners manual says channel 5 (SW) is 4 ohm 100w. which maybe my problem because as i said earlier the local audio shop tested it to 2 ohms at the connections. so i'm guessing they need to be rewired to 4 ohms. the sub is sealed in a q-logic box and i undid the screws yet there is a sealant (guessing silicone) how would i go about removing the sub and rewiring it

in theory, correct me if im wrong i'm a bit of a newbie, if i connect the subwoofer to lets say channel 3 and run the sub rca cables to channel 3 would i be able to do it since each channel runs at 2ohms except 1 + 4 when bridged and channel 5

I don't see why you would do that though.

If you have one dual 2 ohm sub you can only wire it so the amp see 1 or 4 ohms. In your case you should have the sub wired like this so the amp see's a 4 ohm load.
