kenwood pre amp outputs

I am trying to test the pre amp outputs on the back of my radio to rule out the face and then therca cables. I read the value of the outputs with my dvom on ac voltage ( red on red and black on black) i got absolutley nothing. i want to know if i tested wrong or i should go back to best but and get a replacement face????

From what you wrote, it sounds like your testing it wrong. Put your multimeter on AC voltage and set it to low votage, you should be only reading 1.5 - 5V max so make sure your setting is around there. Now, play some music and put one lead on the outer metal, and another lead on the inner metal. You should read the output voltage. If you get nothing, then test all the otheres. RCA outputs rrarely go compleately dead, they usualy just go down in voltage.
