Hello, Question about Break-in

Hi, just wanted to verify something.

What is the proper way to break in a subwoofer? And what is the break in Period?

I was told that keeping the volume low for about 2 weeks does the trick.

subs don't really need a break in period that you have to play them low for a while .two things are goint to happen to change the sound you get . first once the voice coils reach operating temp they will burn off any manufacturing residues this will vary in smell and strength depending on brand .also the the suspension of the sub will relax and settle this includes the spider and surround . the best thing to avoid is any one tone or frequency for long duration . keep in mind that most high end brands will do a "burn in" to check for voicecoil rub though peak to peak excursion . also remember that ambient temp will change the sound of a sub . thats why most sound off competitors tune the cars right before they stage .sorry to be so long winded hope this helps

you will notice a change in sound but break in implys longevity issuses like properly breaking in an engine or brakes speakers don't have internal parts that wear into each other . and playing them low to break them in will only delay the process. don't clipp your amps use a sub sonic filter and don't bottom the speaker and you should be fine .

25 hrs ? at what wattage ? what frequency? what type of enclousure ? what ambient temp? see where i'm going with this ? all of these will affect perceived tonal changes .

Well, Its winter here in NE and its under 35* almost all the time, what do you suggest i do in the cold? Does it play any major factor in the sound quality of the subs? Or output?

(BTW the subs i have are Rockford T1's)

every speaker requires a break-in period. you'll warp the voice coils otherwise.

2 flatlines with two arc audio 2500. in a ported box would require a 25 hour break in

Wrong.

No.

The break-in period requirement is a myth.

you can do what you want with yours. I was told by a sound expert and that's what I'm going with.
