replacing 97 Camry stereo
Hey folks,
I've been reading several great posts here talking about replacing the Camry stereo.
I've got a 97 Camry that has the premium stereo (double DIN, 6 speakers, separate amp behind the glovebox). This is my first attempt to replace a stereo so excuse my questions if they seem basic.
I wanted to get a new stereo with an AUX input so I just bought a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP HU. I figured I could just use the stock speakers for now.
As I'm reading the install guide it says to make sure that the speakers are 4-8 ohms and at least 50W. I've only checked the rear deck speakers but they are marked as 3 ohms and 20W.
Can I (should I) connect this new stereo to these stock speakers? I just want to make sure I don't harm the stereo. I realize that this probably won't be good for the speakers at high volume but I don't crank my stereo up very loud anyway.
My other question is will all 6 speakers still work if I follow the procedures to bypass the factory amp when installing this hu?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
