AE92 91 Corolla speaker questions

Long story short I had a 90 Accord and bought speakers/cd player for it. Lasted about 2 years and then it was time for another beater.

I bought a 91 Corolla for $400 that needed a windshield, belts, axles, headliner... so i figure about $1000 total for the car (to be in good shape). I want to add my 6 1/2" speakers in the front and rear of the car, but the problem is... they are smaller in the front AND the rear.

It seems as though the rear i can make fit snuggly... but the front, are mounted into the dash, and they are like 2-3" speakers. I cant think of any way of changing them (without cutting anything on the car, thats not an option), or adding them elsewhere to look decent and sound right, without cutting or major fabrication. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Also, what all do i have to remove to be able to take out the rear speakers? i was looking at it and it seems like a lot of work, just curious what im getting myself into!

Here's some information I posted in the corolla forums. The sedans and coupes have different rear speaker layouts, so I can't really help you there.

I hope this helps you. I had an audio shop stuff 6x9s in the rear deck of my corolla, and I replaced my stock 4" speakers with 4" Infinitys. Good luck with your system!

thanks! with the help of those articles i changed out the front speakers to 6 1/2" (zip ties rule), but im still at a loss for what all needs to be removed on the rear! i guess ill just tinker with it until i figure it out.

One last question, is there a write-up or anything on changing the head unit? trying to do as little guesswork as possible! thanks!
