Quick Wire Size Question

hey everyone,

i am going to attempt to rewire my whole audio system tomorrow. and what i was wondering was, what size wire to use to run for the positive and negaitve from the subwoffers to the amp. for the longest time i have been using 16awg wire, and the both subs will work, but a week later, one sub will stop. i know that it might be a bad sub, but i just wanted to know what size wire would work best so i dont damage the other one.

Specs are:
Amp is a 600watt Alpine Mono Amp going to 2 Audiobahn 10" subs.

Thanks again everyone.

Joe

Need more information
Is the amp putting out 600W RMS or peak?
What is the resistance of the subs and are they wired in parallel or serial?

the 600 watt is rms at 4ohms i believe,
and each sub is wired directly to the amp, not to each other then the amp

Use 12g or bigger.

From the seat to the trunk, 16g is insufficient for the amount of power you are running and could potentially be a fire hazard.
