Gen5 Gen5 rear deck, removal

i wanna drop some aftermarket 6X9's in the back. i'm still having problems taking out the rear deck panel. i've taken off the side cushions and all the tap screws. I can pop UP the deck, but i cant pull it away from the rear windshield. it feels like something's holding it down.

i had a Gen4 and the process is similar, but i dont know why i cant slide out the panel. anyone got pics? please help me out b4 i go to an audio shop and get charged 4 sumthin i could probably do at home...

Have you pulled the plastic side panels that meets up to the headliner? These are held in by some plastic clips. Take your time pulling these out, it snaps pretty hard and you do not want to lose these clips. Then the rear deck pulls out easily.

Gen5 remove side panels, i got it!

ok, so i figured out how to remove the side panels that run u[ to the headliner. first of all, remove the side cusions and the rear deck.

1. pop open the "SRS" badge on each side panel. it will reveal a bolt.
2. remove that bolt
3. pull the side panel from rear to front. thats it!

its a bit harder to put back correctly becuz u have to line up all the plastic clips before pushing it back it.

it was easier to remove some clips from the chassis, put them on the side panel, and install it...
