Crossover in 05 Tacoma

Where is the crossover in the 05 Tacoma stock system?

Should I use that when I switch out the speakers or should I use the crossover that comes with the new set?

Where should I mount the new crossover should I use it? Any water issues?

Thanks in advance Cam.....!

The stock crossover is an inline capacitor built into the stock tweeter assembly. It is useless in an aftermarket stereo.

Mount the crossovers in the cabin of the truck...NOT in the doors. The doors is the worst place you could put them Moisture and vibrations of the door constantly closing will eventually make your crossover fall apart. I rec. mounting them in your amprack, or under your seat.

There's no crossover in the stock systems. There's a capacitor that blocks low frequencies from the tweeters, but that's it.

^ Not exactly because it's just a filter. It doesn't block the woofer from producing the high frequencies like a passive crossover would do.
